Departamento de Investigação Surrealista em MOçambique
DISMO is an alternative research paradigm that is based on the ‘Centrale Surréaliste’ in Paris by the 20th century group led by Andre Breton. An assumption of the Bureau was that Surrealism could be a mode of research and could produce knowledge unique and unlike knowledge from any other discipline. DISMO takes this assumption and expands it in a contemporary setting. DISMO must accept subjectivity as opposed to the classical scientific methods. As such, it is similar to the social sciences and journalism in using qualitative research and inter-subjectivity as tools to apply measurement and critical analysis.
According to Breton surrealism allows the unconscious to express itself. Its aim is to resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality into a super-reality. DISMO connects to this aspect of surrealism with the Afro-Surreal that presupposes that beyond the seen world, there is an unseen world striving to manifest, and it is our job to uncover it.
Surrealism is the visualization of extra-dimensional factors, elements and/or influences of life through art. Allegory, symbology, and linguistics can be used as an expressive mode of presentation.
What Surrealism strove to investigate is now sometimes progressive science.
It is difficult to see a black cat in a dark room, especially if it is not there.
DISMO applies the artistic mode of conduct so that absolute intellectual and aesthetic freedom is assured and protected.
DISMO engages issues of fact, science, fiction, philosophy, the paranormal, irrationality and emotion to provide an artistic critique or vision of society. Human behavior is taken as part of an ongoing process of multidimensional causes-and-effects networks layered into the fabric of society.
DISMO can be utilized as tool to discuss societal issues on a macro- and micro-scale and is available to provide, on demand, the counsel of and production of the Surrealist mode of perception and presentation.
Dreaming, science, remote viewing, hypnosis, advanced meditation, parapsychology, journalism, intuition and psychic perceptions can be utilized as tools in the investigation of DISMO. The general public is invited to share their dreams, visions, intuitions, thoughts, etcetera to participate.
